The Internet has pioneered a remarkable worldwide spirit of shared purpose. We are on the verge of a time when anyone in a remote village in India can swap news, photos, and ideas--not to mention code--with colleagues in Zurich or San Jose. O'Reilly has been a guiding force in this pioneering community since the early days; and we continue to be involved with high-level computing around the world, conversing with over 150 user groups in 33 countries.
We've worked hard to bring our books to the international programming community through booksellers in almost every country in the world. As an independent publisher, we are able to "tell it like it is," easing information pain in 23 languages. We go to the extreme for quality translations. Our translators, whether O'Reilly staff or one of our many international publishing partners, are not only skilled in the indigenous language--they are specialists in their technology. And every O'Reilly book translation, regardless of who publishes it, is subject to strict technical reviews. Our international editors also publish original titles from experts in France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and wherever else the need--or a good book idea--arises.
Part and parcel of our involvement in the worldwide technological community is our focus on connecting the developing technical community globally by serving as a leading source of information. That's why we have special publishing programs in a number of developing countries. And why we are committed to donating books to organizations like The Internet Society, which trains people from emerging nations in Internet technologies.
Speaking of community, we know that our readers are the most fertile source of new publishing ideas. Every O'Reilly book, whether it's in English, French, or Chinese, is a response to a problem or need our readers brought to our attention. Whether you are a reader, potential author, bookseller or translating publisher, we'd like to hear about your problems, your interests, or your special expertise. Send us your feedback!
